COMMUNITY EVENT REQUESTS
The mission of Summit County Public Health is to protect and advance the health of the entire community through its policies, programs and activities that protect the safety, health and well-being of the people in Summit County. Through its policies, programs and activities, the Health District endeavors to create a healthful environment and ensure the accessibility of health services to all.
A core value of SCPH and one of the ten essential public health functions is to assure a strong local perspective and to identify, create and maintain linkages with communities and neighborhoods by informing, educating and empowering people about health issues.
Some of the ways in which public health connects with communities is through participating in community events to:
- Provide health promotion /disease prevention information to communities specific to their needs
- Inform communities / stakeholders about health department services
- Educate and empower those participants to advocate for themselves and their family’s health
- Maintain linkages with communities to support and advocate for the community’s health and safety
Summit County Public Health employs public health workers from numerous disciplines such as nursing, health education, social work, environmental health, counseling, dentistry, and dietetics. Note: All requests must be received a minimum of 6 weeks in advance of the event to be considered. Participation by SCPH is based on staff availability.
