On March 4, 2016, the Ohio EPA ordered the owner of Summit & McCoy Construction and Demolition Debris (C&DD) Landfill in Norton, Ohio, to begin an assessment of the ground water in the vicinity of the landfill.  The Director’s Final Findings and Orders can be found here:


On March 6, Summit County Public Health (SCPH) began assisting the Ohio EPA in sampling private drinking water wells designated by Ohio EPA as data points to investigate groundwater quality in the vicinity of the Summit & McCoy C&DD Landfill.  A review of preliminary data shows elevated iron and manganese in the ground water.  For additional information regarding iron and manganese in drinking water, please visit the following Ohio Department of Health web pages:
